Review of The Namesake (2006) by Charles H — 08 May 2009
This is a drama. And when I first saw Kal Penn appear on the screen, I can't help but chuckle, lol. But when the story goes on, you won't chuckle much anymore whenever he's around. He gave a good performance, in a story about family values, and more importantly, family roots. The parents migrate to the US from India, and gave birth to Kal Penn's character and his sister. This film conveys how he tries to find his identity, and ultimately, his direction in life.
In any case, if you want to see Kal Penn in a different role, this is it. Furthermore, he is in a good film, directed by an artistic director.
