Review of The Namesake (2006) by Shri I — 06 Jan 2011
I was surprised to see a genuine acting performance from Kalpenn, something we hadn't seen before. Irfan Khan and Tabu are great actors that translate flawlessly to a Hollywood screen.
The story itself is a must see for children of immigrant parents. Makes you realize how much they struggled and what risks and leaps they took just to give their families better lives. Only for their children to become part of a culture they don't really understand. For the children themselves, they carry their conflicted identities as a burden, until something happens that makes them realize and appreciate where they are.
