Review of The Name of the Rose (1986) by Aaron U — 22 May 2011
The Name of the Rose is an exiting film. It is about an intellectually nonconformist monk who investigates a series of mysterious deaths in an isolated abbey. This film has a mix of a Sherlock Holmes-type crime thriller and religious criticism/commentary.
Sean Connery and Christian Slater give amazing performances. The screenplay is well written and suspenseful. Jean-Jacques Annaud did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed this motion picture because of the drama and mystery.
The Name of the Rose is a must see.
