Review of The Naked Prey (1965) by Patrick D — 25 Jul 2008
One of, if not, my favorite man vs. nature films, Cornel Wilde's The Naked Prey is a nearly perfect tale of a safari expedition being overrun by native African tribesmen, and one man's (Cornel Wilde) escape.
He ultimately turns the tables on his pursuers, and this takes up a majority of the movie. Although it seems overlong at points, I was always interested in where the film was going. And apparently so was Mel Gibson when he made Apocalypto, which is essentially a mayan remake, much like Aguirre: Wrath of God was somewhat mimicked in Apocalypse Now.
All making for good cinema.
