Review of The Naked Kiss (1964) by Stephen M — 25 Jun 2008
Not bad, not great, Sam Fuller's pulp based picture about a prostitute trying to hide her past and fit into the culture of a small town is mediocre at best. While it certainly has its moments (the opening is one to remember), it loses it's edge somewhere between the hard cuts, odd plot development, and character's whose moods bounce like a thermometer moved from a freezer to an oven.
Honorable in that it tackles some pretty big issues for its day, it lacks the quality that could've made it an out and out classic. Not bad, not great.
