Review of The Naked Jungle (1954) by Matthew C — 04 Dec 2010
A woman travels to South America to be the bride of a wealthy plantation owner. But when the owner turns out to be an exacting and arrogant jerk, she finds she may be in over her head. As something sinister approaches through the jungle, she must try to win over her new husband, or call it quits and head back home.
With echoes of Beauty and the Beast, as well as some nineteenth century potboilers, the movie is really made by the performances. And darn if I don't completely identify with Heston's character.
If only I had the money and power to back it up. HestFactor 9.
