From the team of Zucker and Abraham, the people behind the hilarious Airplane, The Naked Gun - From the Files of Police Squad! does for cop movies what Airplane did for airport films. Leslie Nielsen stars as Lieutenant Frank Drebin, an honest and inept police officer hot on the trail of some drug smugglers after his partner is hospitalized by them.

Writer/directors Jerry and David Zucker, and writer/producer Jim Abrahams parody their own television series Police Squad with the help of writer Pat Proft. The brand of humor here is hard to pin-down as it really is all over the place, ranging from physical comedy to sight gags to verbal humor.

The characters, plot, and logic are all sacrificed in order to make jokes and since they come at such a rapid-fire rate, it's hard not to laugh at this hilarious farce.
