The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! is a hilarious slapstick comedy. The story follows Detective Frank Drebin of LAPD's elite Police Squad unit as he investigates a plot to kill Queen Elizabeth during her royal visit to America.
Starring Leslie Nielsen, Ricardo Montalban, O.J. Simpson, and Priscilla Presley, the film has a strong cast. The comedy consists mostly of sight gags and physical humor, but it works (for the most part).
Still, at times the jokes get a little too broad and juvenile. Depending on how one feels about slapstick, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! is either brilliantly hysterical or a mass of stupidity.
