Review of The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988) by Brentwood B — 16 Dec 2009

Hollywood in the '80's had comedies down pat--starting w/ "Animal House" and assorted dirty "R" rated comedies, they continually made us die laughing 4 a decade! Nowday?--forget most of them...they're PG-13--not out 2 offend anyone...

Anyway, "Naked", az everybody knows now, wuz directed by the earlier "Airplane" crowd only this wuz easily twice as good, w/ more of a story... In hindsight Lt. Drebnor reminds me of the hilarious pratfuls as Inspector Clousseu,(Peter Sellars) in '70's comedy, "Pink Panther's" (which Steve Martin iz trying hard 2 do now out of idolization but failing miserably). But Drebnor (unlike Clousseu) is martini dry in his ineptness but only a little bit smarter. I also love how each joke is set up & then the pay off!

Very distinct & hilarious movie!! They don't make 'em like this anymore!!!! (except "N.G. 2 & a half" of corse).
