Review of The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) by Michael O — 13 Jul 2011
The Naked Gun 2 1/2 is even better than the first one! It's funny, spirited, and never boring. I saw this film when I was getting ready to sleep. I was drowsy and yawning, but that all ended when the film began to play.
The film's strength relies on the cast's energy especially from the great late Leslie Nielsen. He's hilarious here as he revises the role of Frank Drebin of Police Squad. Drebin goes on to investigate a suspicious man after a bomb goes off killing a few people.
He reunites with his ex-girlfriend Jane (Priscilla Presley) to catch this bomber. The whole investigation turns ludicrous and dangerous when accidental prone Drebin discovers there huge corporate businesses behind the plot.
This all leads to brilliant blend of comedy and action along with a number phallic references and innuendos. Naked Gun 2 Â 1/2 is a film to rent.
