Review of The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) by Grant S — 23 Jun 2014
"FRANK DREBIN IS BACK! JUST ACCEPT IT".
- 'The Naked Gun 2 1/2 : the Smell of Fear' is a 1991 comedy film directed by David Zucker and forms the second installment of the popular 'The Naked Gun'-trilogy, starring Leslie Nielsen (Scary Movie 3, Spy Hard) as Lt. Frank Drebin. The story is set some time after the events of the first film and deals with the same brilliant humor, jokes and facial expressions. They also did a parody-scene of the movie 'Ghost'. I really love this series. For me this is true comedy. With Priscilla Presley (Dallas), George Kennedy (Intensive Care), O.J. Simpson (Naked Gun series), Robert Goulet (Beetlejuice) and Richard Griffiths (Harry Potter saga).
When a bomb explodes in the office of Dr. Albert Meinheimer (Griffiths), Frank Drebin (Nielsen) is on the case to investigate why someone would want to kill the scientist. To his surprise Meinheimer's assistant is none other than his ex-girlfriend Janes Spencer (Presley). When questioning her, he meets her new boyfriend, Hexagon Oil Executive Quentin Hapsburg (Goulet). Continuing his investigation with the help of his boss Ed Hocken (Kennedy) and officer Nordberg (Simpson) Frank discovers that Hapsburg is behind the assassination attempt!
