Review of The Naked City (1948) by James S — 09 Dec 2007
A wonderful evocation of New York in the 1940s. The black and white photography of the movie is superb and the direction pretty tight. What really drags it down is that the central mystery is not all that interesting and 60 years on, the narration is pretty hokey.
Worth seeing, but it's more of a dated police drama and hardcore film noir fans might be disappointed.
