Can't believe a critic said the movie is obnoxious, but then if you go to the review the domain name has disappeared, good riddance. Great songs, acting and nothing boring about it, unless you are an action movie fan who must have violence in your movies.
Till There Was You, covered by the Beatles, is from Music Man, as well as Ya Got Trouble and many more great songs and the choreography in the library scene and Shipoopi is fabulous. It is about small town people in a more innocent time so maybe would not appeal to jaded, pseudo sophisticated reviewers on RT.
Steven Sondheim lauded it for "Rock Island" possibly the first song to use a rap style in a Broadway musical. It's truly a fable just not a dark one so try to enjoy the magic and suspend your cynical disbelief.
