Review of The Music Man (1962) by Kory K — 30 Mar 2008
This movie hardly needs any new recommendations, it was considered a classic pretty much right away. Still alot of people might underestimate it based on how dated it's become. Yes, the movie is completely cheesy and shamaltzy, and it has alot of the blocking and editing problems that often plague movies adapted from stage musicals.
But the perfomances in it are something else; the cast works so well together, you forgive the picture for being so cheesy and dated and actually get into all the nostalgia and romance. A good choice for anyone looking to get see a movie that's a little off the beaten track.
