Review of The Music Man (1962) by Bill T — 01 May 2008
Quite amazing for the most part. The only stickler point, and it's a big one, is it's length. It's 2/12 hours! The movie didn't have to be that long. Other than that, the music here is the biggest highlight, featuring non-convential musical numbers (I was comparing this to, of all things, Dancer In The Dark).
Perhaps at the time this was made (1962) they wanted to put a twist in to lure teens in (but really, Shipoopi wasnt the way to go). Loved the Marion the Librarian number, and the many instances of the cross singing they did.
Interesting movie all around, and a movie I wouldnt mind seeing again.
