Review of The Muppets (2011) by Tyler R — 24 Nov 2012
The rating system here isn't very fair, and if it was, I'd be able to give this film an extra star for beautifully bringing my childhood back to the big screen. "The Muppets" follows Kermit and his new friends as they try to get The Muppets back together to put on one last show so they can save the theater.
The film plays out perfectly, never missing a beat. The writing and the pacing are sublime. The acting is just as sublime with everyone putting in just enough goofiness and cheesiness to sell their characters.
The musical numbers, though, are the real highlight of the film, especially one when the audience first meets Kermit. A lot of love and care went into crafting this film, and it shows. It is a great return for The Muppets, and I hope this is the first of many more films to come.
