Review of The Muppets (2011) by Brian N — 23 Aug 2012

First off, bravo. I was afraid to see this film. The first film I ever saw in the theater was the Muppet Movie way back in the 70s. I love the Muppets, always have, I have DVDs,action figures, and Jim Henson's autograph graces my living room.

I can honestly say that they are one of my favorite things ever. I was so afraid that a new Muppet movie meant a new look and all that stuff that happens when a classic is rebooted. I was so very wrong.

This film captures the true essence of the Muppets. Its a real Muppet movie, a classic that can never be deemed irrelevant because no matter how old you get, you can always enjoy them. That's the thing about the Muppets is that they are timeless.

Credit goes to the writers and director, you know they knew what they were doing, they had it all in it. All the great characters, the humor, the fun. Its been so long since we have seen them in something new and the transition was flawless.

Like the classics, they assembled a great cast of guest stars, everything was just done right. Kids these days, they don't have such amazing entertainment as us older kids did, and people like Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and Jerry Nelson may be gone, but the torch has been passed from one generation to the next.

I hope they continue to make new things with them. It would be a shame to have them disappear for any amount of time again.
