Review of The Muppets (2011) by Tibor B — 26 Mar 2013
A likeable but unexceptional reboot of The Muppets franchise, this is smart enough to use the Muppets faded relevance as part of the story, with the gang dispersed and brought together by Muppet fan Walter with help from his human "brother" Gary and his girlfriend Mary to try and stop oil baron Tex Richman from buying the old muppet studios to drill for oil.
It's a very goofy and innocent film, with much of it coming across like a very tongue-in-cheek experiment, but as someone who doesn't have much nostalgia for the Muppets golden-age, it didn't have enough charm to win me over.
