Review of The Muppets (2011) by Tungis G — 15 Apr 2013
I was tentative about this. The original Muppet Movie is a classic and with Jim Henson's passing the quality of the Muppet offerings has sunk significantly. Hearing Frank Oz's reservations had me fearing the worst. I was relieved that my concerns were unfounded. The film should delight any Muppet fan and keep any non-fan entertained for its runtime. Make no mistake, there are some weak points and its not nearly the work the original is but its pretty fun and much alike in many ways. Well acted; Segal and Cooper are perfect fits and Adams is completely delightful all film long.
Still its hard not to compare to the original and often I couldn't help think of how Henson would have improved nearly each scene. However it remains pleasantly entertaining and the ending is so decidedly Henson I'm sure he would have loved it.
