Review of The Muppet Movie (1979) by Miles H — 02 Mar 2008
The start of a great adventure. It's not the best of the gang's films, but it's wonderfully funny and entertaining. I could have done without some of the celebrity cameos, but the trademark wit and multi-generational appeal of The Muppets is here in all its glory.
The finish is sort of disappointing after the journey to it, but Kermit and Fozzie's first meeting in a violent bar atmosphere is one of the greatest moments in the legacy of Jim Henson (RIP). You'll never eat frog legs again (or ever) after watching this one.
