Review of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) by Mariam K — 20 Oct 2014
As a fan of the exciting, mysterious, ancient and sometimes frightening "The Mummy" franchise - this left me feeling disheartened. This film had quite a few strange elements. Maria Bello as Evelyn? Her performance left alot to be desired, let's be honest with ourselves. Switching such a well known actress and character with distinct personality for a completely different actress with no charisma was a very strange decision. Personally I would have rather her character be written out of the story completely.
The plot was interesting and had me compelled at the beginning, but it soon unraveled and became an absolute mess especially when the Yeti made their appearance. I actually choked on my tea when I saw them. Okay seriously, if you have not seen the Yeti in this film I would recommend to look them up immediately as they will be the most hilarious and depressing things you have ever seen in a live action film.
There were a lot of other things going on in this movie that were just all over the place and not really worth noting.
Putting the Yeti behind me I still could not actually finish this movie even though it was a very exciting ancient tale. I turned it off three quarters of the way through which I do feel bad about, but it really just is not a good movie.
