Like its predecessor, its ambition to provide B-movie adventure thrills is admirable, but unfortunately, nearly the entire apparent execution is so wildly unintelligent and trite that it's inexcusable even for a B-movie.
It cheats as a sequel, adding new and silly elements to the characters to provide a goofy reincarnation subplot. The attempt at goofy humor consistently falls flat on its face, never funny, but often painful.
The special effects do not hold up at all today, and neither do they enhance the product, like the now old-fashioned effects of the INDIANA JONES movies it desperately tries tries to emulate, but the SFX are basically where the filmmakers cashed all their chips, leaving nothing of substance to remain when the technology became outdated.
