Review of The Mummy (2017) by Lee H — 26 Jun 2017
The Mummy.

(The Brendan Fraser 90s version is still better).
First and foremost this is a Tom Cruise film, which just happens to have a Mummy in it. That is the problem with this film, it is too focused on Tom Cruise and not enough on the Mummy. It isn't a bad film but it is too generic to be anything else other than a bland and sometimes cheesy action film. This is meant to be the beginning of a shared dark universe with classic characters like Frankenstein, the Wolfman and Dracula all being connected together through a series of films in Marvel type universe. Hopefully the follow up films are an improvement on this or I think this connected universe may end before it begins. A watchable action film but not much more than that.
