Review of The Mummy (2017) by Maeghan R — 11 Jul 2017
I never write reviews but I wanted to in this case after all the horrible reviews I had read about it. I had to go see this movie for myself to see if it was really this terrible. The movie for its part is ok, its not as bad the media portrayed it as the destruction of Tom Cruise's career etc. I believe it is one of those movies that if it is allowed to be a franchise and a chance to breath will eventually turn into one of those franchises once on cable you sit down and spend a rainy saturday watching 3 of them. The pace of the move is decent and being a fan of movies I think the story is ok, but we are getting one small piece in the supposed universe. So I am not sure if its fair to judge one movie based on what is supposed to be a much larger universe.
Now obviously movies are supposed to be shown in the theater and unfortunately I wouldn't recommend anyone seeing this in the theaters but I highly recommend it when it comes on demand and despite its short comings I do hope Universal does give the franchise some more movies to see if all the confusion of the last half of the film suddenly makes sense.
