Review of The Mummy (2017) by Joellyn C — 04 Mar 2018
This film was to kick off the so-called Monster Universe and frankly it failed. Dracula Untold kicked it off and it had promise until this disaster.
This film was just boring with very little substance to carry the film. Too many holes and continuity issues and then toss in Crowe as Jeckyll/Hyde? Too much nonsense. The reuse of the face in the sand and sucking life from victims from the Fraser films was also stupid and couldn't make up for the poor story.
This film seemed like too many writers watched the Fraser films and tried to figure out what to do that was different and then just slapped in some of those pieces I spoke of thinking it would help.
I don't think there was one likeable character in the film which makes it difficult to sit through a boring story when you have no one to root for.
