Review of The Mummy (2017) by Timm S — 26 May 2018
One Mediocre Star For The Special FX...How Do They Manage To Keep Tom (Now 54) Still Looking Not A Day Over 30?? Amazing Stuff. So It All Comes Down To Russell Crowe's Line To Supposedly Dead Cruise "Welcome To The World Of God's & Monsters".
..Which, I Gather Is The New 'Dark Universe' Competition To All The Other Comic-Book'esk Franchises. Problem Is, Faaaar Too Much Time Is Spent Exploring The Birth, Reason To This World Via Boring Character Monologues, Although Surprisingly Rus-Crowe Kinda Stole The Show.
The Booming Action & CGi Keeps You Awake, Alongside Dawn-Of-The-Dead/Walking-Dead Style Action-Chase Sequences..But It Is Not Nearly Enough To Keep You From Seeing Things For Really What It Is..A Franchise Cash-Grab.
Clearly Competing With The 'Marvel Unvierse' In This Alternate Reality..Based On Characters That Have No Associated Trademarks Which Universal Can Gobble Up & Package For Free. Not A Good Start Here At All.
.Really Should Have Tried To Cameo Brendan Fraser & Re-cast All Leads As Some Fresh Faces, Then Done It In The 'Indiana Jones' Style Of The Original Series..Rather Than All Dark & Emo.
