Review of The Mummy (2017) by William H — 08 Jun 2017
I highly recommend this movie to anyone that is curious about seeing it. I don't understand why others are giving this movie such bad reviews. This movie was a fun, action-packed summer flick. It delivered on all of the notes that I had hoped for.
It had action. It had horror. It even had some slight humor. One of the great things that I enjoyed about this movie was Tom Cruise. Just as he does in all of his roles, he completely took on this character and made him compellingly believable.
He always gives so much in his performances and this movie was no exception. On top of this, I think all of the characters had great chemistry together. Annabelle Wallis and Tom Cruise had a great connection that you actually believed and felt for to some point.
Jake Johnson and Tom had a humorous relationship that I personally enjoyed and laughed at throughout the movie. Sofia Boutella was a shining star in her role as the mummy. She was terrifying yet beautiful at the same time.
Definitely a deadly combo. I really enjoyed the distinction that this Mummy movie was completely different than the original. The storyline was fresh and I am super excited to see where they take this franchise in the future.
I'm really hoping we get to see this whole monster universe come to life, and I really hope we get to see Tom Cruise explore more ?with this character.
