Review of The Mummy (2017) by Christopher K — 09 Jun 2017
The Mummy has an identity crisis and should've been a hard R to begin with, which would probably have forced teen to sneak into cinemas or wait for the DVD/streaming releases. Furthermore, a singular focus on the subject matter would've made this film a lot more scarier and probably more entertaining.
Instead it treaded into the waters of Penny Dreadful and I kept waiting for Vanessa Ives to make an appearance. I understand the vision for Dark Universe, but please don't insult your audiences in this manner.
Grant us more intelligence and integrity. I can't even rewatch this after the theatrical release because it was so poorly made. Sofia Boutella seemed like the only cast member that looked like she actually gave a damn about her role.
