Review of The Mummy (2017) by Garrett P — 23 Jul 2017
Aside from the action sequences, Kurtzman's attempt at reimagining The Mummy is a disappointing misfire. The humour is flat and performances incredibly mixed with Cruise not settled in a role that leads nowhere.
Crowe has a strong ground but the CGI used on him is horrifically sub-par. Wallis has no chemistry with Cruise and adds nothing worthy as is Johnson who's role was so incredibly unnecessary and annoying.
Boutella is the stand out but the script ruins her character and the film does little justice for her. The film has no intrigue or mystery and the world building is flat and poor, with a finale that not only is borderline stupid but also frantically desperate to set something up that nobody will want to see.
