Review of The Mummy (2017) by Krista D — 12 Nov 2017
I?ll start with saying that I was a big fan of the Mummy movies staring Brendan Fraser (I knew this was not gonna be linked to those, but one can hope for just as much of an effort).
There were some good points to this movie.... I thought the general idea of the Dark Universe was awesome. The mummy herself was very compelling, I thought she did a very good job. As for Dr Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, it was fun to see an actor with the abilities of Russell Crowe play with the differences in personality.
Here?s my problem: Tom Cruise. I?ve said it before and I?ll say it again... He plays one type of character, you can pick one of his movies to like and the rest just feel like repeats. We are far from the days when he could pull off a damn impressive Lestat in Interview with a Vampire. These days his common characters Ethan Hunt, Jack Reacher, lol Roy Miller... all feel exactly the same to me. ?Let?s put Tom Cruise in another action movie & let?s see if he does anything new! But of course it?ll be different because there?s a mummy in it!? -_- .... I miss Brendan Fraser...
