Review of The Mummy (1999) by Rameshwar N — 29 Jun 2011
This is another one of those movies that I watched nearly every day as a kid, and my passion for this flawed masterpiece has barely dwindled over a decade since its release. Stephen Sommers has written and directed an incredibly entertaining film that I find impossible to not enjoy.
Brendan Fraser makes himself the ultimate testerone laden man in this film, and Rachel Weisz is the ultimate beautiful woman, but her character is mostly just scenery. The effects were fantastic and Sommers direction clear: he just wanted to make an awesome movie.
Job well done, sir.
