Review of The Mummy (1999) by Theo W — 14 Jan 2016
At times crossing the line between comedy and adventure, The Mummy is an incredibly fun movie that fails to completely live up to its potential. The film is a bit uneven, as its visuals set a creepy tone, but its dialogue is a bit too humorous for its own good.
This tone clash holds the movie back from being the Indiana Jones copy that it so desperately wants to be. Nevertheless, the villain is great, the story is engaging, and the heroes pack a big punch of fun.
Though not a must-watch, the mummy is undeniably enjoyable.
