A team of archaeologists accidentally awaken a mummy who searches for fresh body parts to rebuild himself. As one critic noted, "The son of, the son of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK". Not a great movie by any means, but an exciting, action-filled remake of 1932 classic, with charming cast, great effects (love those flesh-eating beetles!), locations, beautiful photography. Overlong and preposterous . . . but still fun to watch. Skip the sequels, MUMMY RETURNS, TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR.
