Review of The Mudge Boy (2003) by Kelli M — 22 Jul 2008
'The Mudge Boy' is a very contemplative and beautiful film. It dives deep into the realm of most, if not all, American boys. It's brutally honest, showing just how difficult it truly is to be sensitive in todays world (for a boy). To be sensitive is asking to be a target and to ignore these emotions and have to prove to be a man is only asking to kill a part of yourself. It too reveals how many boys find it a threat if another is "weird" (sensitive) and thus try to kill that part of every boy they may encounter.
Many of us have been forced to deny what we truly love and this movie in a way can bring an audience together... Because we know the pain of making that sacrifice.
