Review of The Mountain (1956) by Hans S — 28 Apr 2013
A quirky movie based on a real air India crash in the early fifties. The film has many flaws not least the incredible premise that Tracy and Wagner are brothers. The dated propensity for western actresses to play Indians with a little boot polish is funny rather than offensive. The Hindi however is genuine. What really is affecting and genuinely moving is Tracey's performance especially his display of compassion for the injured indian passenger.
The cinema going audience of that era new a thing or two about great acting and what made a true movie star.
