Review of The Mothman Prophecies (2002) by Sam F — 31 Mar 2013
After so many years of looking for 'The Mothman Prophecies', the wait is over. I have finally found the movie and I watched it. Okay, to be honest, I was indifferent towards the movie. Perhaps it was because I have researched on the Mothman mystery for a long time now and recognised the climax of the film immediately.
The visual aspects of the film is stunning and Mark Pellington's direction is evidently so good, but all these efforts suffer from a poorly written screenplay. Dialogues are scattered and certain transitions between scenes are awkward.
The climax, though predictable to me, is probably the best part of the movie for me. For a movie that suffers not only from the script but also from the rather slow pacing, the climax is pretty intense and keeps the audiences at the edge of their seats for the short few minutes as the tragedy transpires.
Overall, a passable film which could have fared better with a well-written script and a more properly-done film editing.
