Review of The Most Dangerous Game (1932) by Al M — 23 Jun 2009
A very impressive early film from the early years of sound cinema that mangages to create an adventure story that builds its level of tension from beginning to end and that slowly builds a distubring feeling in the pit of the viewer's stomach.
It also manages to create some rather creepy and atmospheric scenes for such an early film. A must see for fans and students of the fantastic film genres. A brilliant adapation of the classic short story that adds some points to it (like the Fay Wray character), but that similar explores division between human and animal, good and evil, hunting and murder.
...A fundamental deconstruction of our most basic ethical assumptions in a truly horrofying manner.
