Review of The Mosquito Coast (1986) by Aaron T — 08 Jul 2007
Having come to the conclusion that Western society is doomed to self destruction, New England inventor Allie Fox (Harrison Ford) decides to relocate his family to South America in order to build a perfect, simpler society.
Featuring standout performances from Ford, Helen Mirren, and River Phoenix, this film was originally snubbed by critics and audiences alike. However, the film's themes are still highly poignant: not only is it the material excesses of man that will destroy but arrogance as well.
(This is Ford's favourite film out of all of his work.).
