Review of The Monuments Men (2014) by Peter P — 24 Feb 2015
Cloony, Goodman, Balaban, and Bill FRICKIN Murray, all trying to save art from the Nazis, plus Matt Damon kinda has his own story going. This should have been awesome! Instead it was ploddingly slow, badly scripted, and had very poor character development where you never feel like you get to know any character all that well. It's not a total waste, it has some moments, in particular the scene with Bill Murray and the record player, but overall lacks the weight and emotional punch that a movie like this should have. It is disappointing, but still worth seeing, but just makes me wish that it could have been so much more.
