Review of The Monuments Men (2014) by Yash B — 29 Jul 2015
Here's a movie that really showed a lot of promise. An amazing cast and an interesting premise made the film look like it was going to be hugely enjoyable and quite possibly in the race around Oscar season.
However, this movie is a major letdown. The tone is inconsistent and bouncing off the walls and the exposition is weak and boring. The actors do a decent job but the movie doesn't really feel like it's as entertaining or emotionally resonant as this story could be.
The bad reviews aren't wrong for this one, its a dull movie that only picks up in maybe the final ten minutes or so and until then is a lot of boring conversations that consist of way too much of the film's two hour running time.
Again, the acting is good and the movie definitely has good intentions, but sadly, it's handled in the least interesting way possible.
