For many folks, especially children of the 80s, "The Monster Squad" is a childhood movie staple. The film brings to mind all that was so appealing about "The Goonies" - it has a lively sense of adventure and a cast that brings a quirky, youthful tone to the picture.
There's enough going on here that people of all ages can appreciate. Still, "Monster Squad" is rated PG-13 for a reason, so it's not the most child-friendly movie as some might hope it to be.
It is suitable enough for those seeking some goofy monster fun... as it strikes a nice balance between being spooky and safe (but mostly safe).
