Review of The Monster Squad (1987) by Gerry L — 30 Jun 2009
Well this was a film I loved as a kid growing up in the 80s, yes by today's standards it's dated and a little cheesy but once you get past that, it's actually kind of a fun film.
This appeals to the kid in you, in fact I bought this when I saw it was actually out on DVD and you know what, I still enjoyed the film. Plus where else can you get a movie with Dracula, a Mummy, the creature from the black lagoon, a were-wolf and Frankenstien's Monster all in one film?
I also kind of consider this the most bad ass Dracula in films, there's no emo Dracula trying to seduce a woman that reminds him of his dead wife like in Bram Stoker's Dracula. This is a bad man who does bad things, a true monster. I mean where else can you see Dracula throwing around sticks of TNT blowing stuff up?
