Review of The Monster Squad (1987) by Steve A — 04 Mar 2011
At first, I was reluctant to buy or even watch this movie. I thought it wpuld have a stupid plot and that the whole thing would be directed towards kids. Man, I was wrong. I loved this movie. It;s alot of fun and is a huge thorw back to the classic Universal monsters.
The acting was pretty good seeing as how it was a pretty low budget movie that was made during the '80's. My favourite character was either "Rudy" or "Scary German Guy" because they were great characters and they were crucial to the plot.
Directed by Fred Dekker who most horror fans know from Night of the Creeps did an amazing job. I was surprised that even though this was a PG rated movie there was still a fair amount of violence and swearing.
This is definately on my favorite classic horror movies list and I am happy to have watched it seeing as how I thought it would be horrible. Definately reccommended to any horror fan.
