Review of The Mist (2007) by Jonathon H — 24 Feb 2012
Big screen adaptations of Stephen King's works have always been hit or miss (mostly miss). Within 5 minutes of watching this adaptation of King's novella, I thought we had another stinker on our hands.
I mean, I've seen home movies with better acting. The screenplay, however, is spot on, showcasing the unfortunate truth and consequences of mass panic, hysteria, and attempts at rationality in a disaster situation.
The story's truth to life is almost more frightening than the monsters outside. Combine that with some truly frightening cinematography and a harrowing ending, and the horrible acting is forgiven in my book.
