Review of The Mist (2007) by Patrick W — 03 Jun 2012
The Mist, Frank Darabont's adaptation of a Stephen King novel, engages the audience in the the horror of battening down the hatches in a small town grocery store against a supernatural enemy. Though the cast of characters creates an interesting dynamic that adds tension to the plot, the one-sidedness of several make them inherently likable or not without giving the audience much choice in the matter.
Furthermore, some of the character decision-making is sheer lunacy, even for people faced with imminent death away from their loved ones. Darabont's masterful ending will leave viewers feeling truly somber.
One of the best endings to a movie I've seen.
