Review of The Mist (2007) by Brooks L — 06 Oct 2012
Frank Darabont makes me happy. With all that he did in this recreation of the novel is truely masterful. On the tight budget he had, some of the visuals (cgi and some animatronic work) wasnt that pleasing after watching it a few times, but of course as said, he was on a tight budget, so with that, the visuals were as good as they ever would have been. The acting with great with performances done by Thomas Jane, Marcia Gray Harden, and Laurie Holden. Best thing of it was the action, with silent moments of thrilling, creature-filled madness, and scenes of same magnitude with a percussion track in the background. All of those little sound tricks really added some good atmosphere.
For a theater release, this movie should be called below average, mediocare, or cheap. Which it is. But with the awesome work of Frank Darabont, and that ending.. I cant but help giving it a straight forward four star Excellency rating.
