Review of The Mist (2007) by Kevin N — 18 Oct 2012
The Mist is a true testament of good dialogue and camera work and show cases how fast humans can turn into monsters.
The way the camera moves as the characters exchange dialogue makes it feel almost like a play. By far the best thing about The Mist is the conflicting morals and decisions made by characters which, in turn makes the humans divide and fight , and escalates into a high crescendo.
Oh, and Marcia Gay's performance as an "over religious bitch" is excellent and really does add another level of paranoia and accelerates the apparentness of the human need to conform and how human fragility can bring about the downfall of humanity.
My only complaint is that the monsters make it seem like a B-movie. But the exceptional acting and writing overshadows this.
It's well acted, well written and well shot.
If you enjoy movies where everyday people turn into monsters due to unforeseen circumstances, this is a must-watch.
