Review of The Mist (2007) by Emily D — 12 Nov 2012
I only saw about 2/3 of this, but unlike The Tall Man it was a properly thrilling scarymovie. It found the ideal balance: scary without being traumatizing. The complete improbability of the scenario (people trapped in a grocery store by a mist that has *things* in it) made me able to enjoy it as a proper fiction. None of this found-camera, based-on-a-true-story nonsense.
Long story short, there were giant tentacles, acid spewing spiders, and a crazy religious woman wanting to sacrifice the kids.
And mist. There was lots of mist.
Stephen King has a strange mind all right, but I'm glad it was him because if anyone else came up with this we would have just laughed ourselves silly.
But all in all, no complaints. Fits the bill for Emily's First Official Scarymovie pretty satisfyingly.
