Review of The Mist (2007) by Dakota F — 10 Dec 2012
Definitely has that Stephen King feeling to it. It succeeds by allowing the conflict between the human beings dealing with the ordeal be the substance of the story, if it had not, it probably would have just been another cliche and recyclable monster movie.
It feels fairly realistic as to what may happen in this kinda situation and the monsters and action it does have is pretty fun. Has a very twisted ending that will probably determine whether you love, or hate this movie.
Although I had strong disgust for the way it ended, That means it will well executed in what it was trying to attempt, and with these types of story, people tend to forget that there is not always a picture perfect resolved ending, and this film plays with that on the highest of scales.
It is also incredibly shocking and I wonder if my opinions on the film would have been different If I hadn't been robbed of that shock via spoilers from the loud mouth girl who sat next to me in art class in 9th grade that was proclaiming to the world how much the movie offended her haha.
I would only give this four stars, but always give a four story of this kinda scifi horror nature that is good five stars considering it's for the most part in my opinion, a genre with an incredibly high fail rate.
