Review of The Mist (2007) by Tim K — 24 Jun 2012
"Stephen King's Legendary Tale of Terror".
I have never read a Stephen King book or watched any of his book adaption movies. So I'm all new to this, and after watching this movie, I'm definitely interested in Stephen King's work.
What really makes this film work is it's suspense, I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout this whole movie! Also the look of this movie was unique and I liked that about it. The special effects were very good and I liked the creatures, even though they were creepy, they were so cool. Also I liked the main characters and I really cared about them. Frank Darabont really knows how to make the viewer care about the main characters in the weirdest places and situations (like he did in the Shawshank Redemption which the setting was in prison). Also towards the ending, they revealed a certain creature, and it made my jaw drop.
The problems I had with this movie were that, even though I said I cared about the main characters, there were some side characters that I didn't like, and found them mostly annoying (mostly Mrs. Carmody).
Also the very last part of the movie, I didn't like at all, and it was really frustrating (not the creature scene).
But overall I really enjoyed and loved The Mist.
